**This position is based at West Penn Hospital. Travel to Allegheny General Hospital and Forbes Hospital will be as needed. **
GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Provides and coordinates pastoral care to patients, families, and employees, including direct client contact with the provision of sacramental support, pastoral counseling, and/or referral to community religious resources; appropriately interfaces with the clinical staff with the provision of spiritual assessments, patient care plans, and consultations inclusive of those in need of support in end of life decision making.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cares for the spiritual needs of patients and families through visitation and appropriate ministry in conjunction with the pastoral volunteer program and other interfaith chaplains.
- Shares in interfaith ministry, on-call responsibilities and maintains weekly statistics.
- Maintains working relationships with community clergy.
- Conducts and coordinates formal/informal religious services for patient, families and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Masters of Divinity Degree from an accredited seminary or equivalent. Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement by a religious denomination or faith group.
- 2 years’ previous pastoral experience.
Preferred
- Board Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains.
- CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education).
