We are looking for a Graphic Designer - Womens Apparel for a top fashion company in New York, New York. This contract position will be onsite in their NYC
Responsibilities:
Experience creating apparel graphics
Execute Apparel Graphic designs based on direction / references provided by the Senior Director of Graphics and Senior Designer of Graphics.
Update printouts and boards for presentations to leadership, update croquis to assist design team. spec final graphic files to upload to PLM.
Utilize library of in-house embellishments, in partnership with internal and external partners.
Partner with the Legal Department to ensure that graphics/designs are not trademarked and can be utilized by the Company.
Produce mechanical art and complex graphic design (logos, illustrations, photographs, tags, labels, etc.) through interpretation of design ideas.
Stay abreast of trends, with a proactive approach to researching new techniques and resources in both the apparel graphics market & graphic design.
Acts as a technical resource for the department and provides in-depth expert knowledge to graphics employees. Includes creating and maintaining line sheets and communicating changes to all cross-functional partners.
Works primarily independently and handles issues of high complexity.
Must respond well to artwork critique and requests for editing work; proactive approach to research into design trends and techniques.
Must work well with other designers on the team and offer support whenever and wherever necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Apparel graphics experience and an understanding of the apparel market and kids apparel market specifically required.
Thorough knowledge of graphics production (e.g., silkscreen color separation; camera-ready art, heat transfers, etc.).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work accordingly.
Excellent computer skills (Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator, and additional related software). PLM knowledge is helpful.
Strong hand drawing skills and knowledge of typography are very important.
Strong creative sense with proven artistic abilities.
Ability to conduct concept research based on seasonal themes.
Knowledge of creating Licensed graphics with 3rd Party partnerships helpful.
5-8+ years apparel graphic design experience
