Role Overview :
We are seeking a Director of Technical Accounting who brings a strong command of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and accounting standards. This individual will lead the interpretation and implementation of technical accounting across complex business activities, providing guidance to Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and other senior stakeholders.
What You’ll Do :
Serve as the subject matter expert for U.S. GAAP, SEC guidance, and emerging accounting standards.
Research, interpret, and apply complex accounting guidance including ASC, SABs, and SEC interpretations.
Develop and maintain technical accounting position papers and memos that support financial reporting.
Lead accounting assessments for non-routine and high-impact transactions, including :
M&A, revenue arrangements, debt and equity instruments, share-based compensation, and pensions.
Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Treasury, and Corporate Development during deal assessments.
Drive implementation of new accounting standards and maintain consistent global accounting policies.
Provide technical training and mentorship to the broader finance team.
Qualifications :
10+ years in accounting, including :
Big 4 public accounting through Senior Manager level
2–3 years in a corporate technical accounting or controllership role
CPA required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (master’s preferred)
Expertise in areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), debt / equity classification, business combinations, and restructuring
Proven ability to lead discussions with audit partners, including national office consultations
Strong written communication - must be able to prepare SEC / audit-ready memos
