Upward Bound tutors provide subject matter assistance and homework help during individual or group drop-in sessions to high school students. Their responsibilities include reviewing class materials, discussing texts, addressing test questions, and providing feedback on essays. Tutors also model the techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs of successful learners.

This position requires strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively use technology to enhance tutoring sessions.

Successful Upward Bound tutors take a holistic approach to student success, bring passion and enthusiasm to each session, and collaborate with colleagues. They are capable of working effectively and constructively with individuals from diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities.

Tutors will be assigned a set schedule for one or more days, depending on their availability. Additional shifts for assisting with monthly field trips are also available.

We are specifically seeking tutors in the following subject areas :

• Writing
• Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Algebra through Calculus

Minimum Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor's degree required.

Proficient in tutoring subject area.

Experience teaching / tutoring at the high school or post-secondary level
