Nurse Practitioner

We are an up and coming primary care practice dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered healthcare to our community of Portsmouth, Virginia. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team and contribute to our mission of improving the health and well-being of our patients.

Job Summary

As a Nurse Practitioner at our primary care practice, you will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of common health conditions, promoting preventive care, and educating patients on health management.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments, including taking medical histories and performing physical examinations
• Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic health conditions
• Prescribe medications and other treatments within the scope of practice
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays
• Develop and implement treatment plans, emphasizing disease prevention and health promotion
• Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and lifestyle modifications
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic health record system
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice meetings
• Stay current with evidence-based practices and continuing education requirements

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program
• Current Virginia state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
• National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC)
• DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Virginia
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care (preferred)
• Strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex patient cases
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
