Salary range: $70,000 – $90,000/year
Overview
The Financial Analyst II performs a broad range of financial planning and analysis activities for assigned entities within the organization. This role monitors financial results against plans, forecasts, and budgets; identifies trends; and helps explain variances to support data-driven decision making.
Job Responsibilities:
·Perform grant-related pre- and post-award financial functions, including revenue/expense analysis, reporting, accounting tasks, and reconciliations.
·Assist departmental leaders with annual operating budget preparation and provide training to new managers on the budget system.
·Review budget submissions for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with budget assumptions; participate in planning and review meetings.
·Conduct monthly actual-to-budget variance analysis to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
·Prepare, interpret, and present complex financial analyses and reports for system leadership.
·Compile, synthesize, and maintain accurate financial information for financial statement review and required reporting deliverables.
·Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with appropriate stakeholders.
·Prepare and post journal entries according to monthly close deadlines.
·Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
·Exercise independent judgment in planning work activities and making decisions in a complex professional environment.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience:
·5+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related financial systems work.
·Advanced Excel skills (, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, advanced formulas).
·Experience performing financial analysis during month-end close processes.
·Strong attention to detail with a deep understanding of financial operations.
·Proficiency in building and using PC-based spreadsheets and tools.
·Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
·Ability to review and interpret financial information, including variance analyses.
·Ability to develop recommendations and present findings to leadership.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
·Experience in budget preparation, planning, and analysis.
·Familiarity with Epic or Workday financial modules.
·Proficiency with PowerPoint for financial reporting and presentations.
