Registered Nurse - PCU
Join a Premier Stroke-Certified Facility in Shreveport, LA as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU)! This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your specialized skills in a dynamic environment, caring for diverse cardiac and medical patients. What You Will Bring:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU RN experience, including cardiac stepdown and medical overflow cases
- Valid RN license with current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications; LVAD certification strongly preferred
- Strong skills in titrating cardiac, insulin, and vasopressor drips such as Esmolol, Cardene, Amiodarone, Dopamine, and others
- Proficiency in managing chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains, and wounds
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
- LVAD certification
- Experience with managing venous sheaths, TR Bands, temporary pacemakers
- Prior experience in cardiac or medical stepdown units
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Accredited RN program degree
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience in a PCU setting
- Experience working with cardiac and medical patient populations
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, with a 4-day/3-day workweek rotation
- No on-call responsibilities; occasional floating to other units
- Must have separated from previous employment for at least one year if previously employed as a permanent staff member
- Must be fully vaccinated per facility policy; reliable transportation and professional appearance required
