- Role Description
We are seeking a Personal Injury Intake Attorney to join our Norfolkf office. This attorney will serve as the first legal point of contact for potential clients, assessing case viability, making strategic decisions regarding case acceptance, and ensuring a smooth transition into the pre-litigation process. In addition, this role includes leadership and oversight of approximately 8–10 team members within the Call Center, Intake, and Investigations departments.

- Key Responsibilities
- Initial Case Evaluation & Client Screening
- Conduct detailed initial consultations with potential clients by phone or in person.
- Determine legal responsibility, damages, and case acceptance criteria.
- Provide clear, empathetic explanations of the process and next steps for new clients.
- Department Oversight & Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the Call Center, Intake Specialists, and Investigators (approx. 8–10 staff).
- Ensure timely and accurate handling of incoming leads, follow-up calls, and investigative tasks.
- Implement workflow improvements and uphold firm standards for responsiveness, professionalism, and client experience.
- Collaborate with HR and firm leadership on training, performance expectations, and team development.
- Case Development & Transition to Pre-Litigation
- Ensure investigative steps (scene investigations, recorded statements, background checks, etc.) are completed properly and efficiently.
- Provide the Pre-Litigation team with clear case summaries and legal assessments.
- Identify red flags or missing information and direct staff on corrective actions.
- Client Communication & Guidance
- Maintain supportive and professional communication with new clients during the onboarding phase.
- Set appropriate expectations regarding timelines, liability issues, and documentation needs.
- Legal Analysis & Strategic Input
- Stay current on developments in personal injury law and insurance practices.
- Advise firm leadership on trends, risk factors, and opportunities to improve intake processes.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain organized records, notes, and case assessments consistent with ethical and legal standards.
- Ensure all deadlines, reporting requirements, and internal protocols are followed.
- Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Virginia.
- Experience in personal injury law strongly preferred (3+ years ideal).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly evaluate liability, damages, and case value.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
