Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dimensional Aerospace Inspector to join our team at a leading aerospace manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in aerospace quality control, proficiency in AS9100 standards, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and dimensional inspection techniques. This role is critical in ensuring the highest quality standards are met for our aerospace components and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed dimensional inspections on aerospace components, assemblies, and systems using various measurement tools and techniques
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with design requirements
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and maintain accurate documentation
- Verify conformance to AS9100 quality management system requirements
- Apply GD&T principles to evaluate complex geometric features and tolerances
- Identify and report non-conformances, defects, or quality issues
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes and methodologies
- Maintain calibration records and ensure measurement equipment is properly calibrated and maintained
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records
- Train and mentor junior inspectors on dimensional inspection techniques and best practices
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements in aerospace quality control
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace quality control or dimensional inspectionComprehensive understanding of AS9100 quality management system requirementsExpert-level proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Advanced knowledge of dimensional inspection techniques and methodologiesHands-on experience with various measurement tools and equipmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specificationsFamiliarity with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis techniquesProficiency in Microsoft Office suite and quality management softwareCertification as a Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) from ASQ is preferredWillingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime as required
