Chief Pharmacy Officer
The Chief Pharmacy Officer is a key senior leader responsible for the strategic direction, operational oversight, and clinical integration of pharmacy services across the health system. This role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, and cost-efficient pharmaceutical care aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values. The Chief Pharmacy Officer collaborates with all levels of leadership, clinical teams, and external partners to drive innovation, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence across inpatient, outpatient, specialty, and ambulatory pharmacy services.
Strategic Leadership
- Develops and executes a comprehensive pharmacy strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Leads enterprise-wide initiatives to optimize medication use, improve outcomes, and reduce costs.
- Serves as a key advisor to executive leadership on pharmacy-related matters.
Operational Oversight
Oversees pharmacy operations across all care settings, including acute care, ambulatory, specialty, and retail.Provides oversight and support for Pharmacists in Charge (PICs).Role models, leads, and influences the organizational design and effectiveness of the "One St. Charles" operational model to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and shared accountability while continually improving the experience of patients, physicians, providers, and caregivers.Establishes and drives performance culture. Demonstrates effective financial management with the ability to develop cost-effective solutions relating to staffing, resource allocation, budget development, and management while meeting productivity goals.Supports the principles of continuous improvement functioning as a champion of lean and Shingo practice. Pursues ROI-driving process standardization and automation processes using this methodology.Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.Provides and oversees team's delivery of customer service in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.Supports and ensures program and process alignment with St. Charles' Mission, Vision, and Values.Clinical Integration
Partners with medical, nursing, and quality leaders to support evidence-based medication management.Advances clinical pharmacy services, including MTM, antimicrobial stewardship, and transitions of care.Promotes innovation in pharmacy practice, including digital health and pharmacogenomics.High Reliability and Safety of Medication Use
Champions a culture of safety and high reliability in all aspects of medication use.Implements and monitors systems to prevent medication errors and adverse drug events.Leads continuous improvement initiatives focused on medication safety, including root cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).Collaborates with quality and risk management teams to ensure compliance with national patient safety goals and regulatory standards.Utilizes data analytics to identify trends, reduce variability, and improve medication-related outcomes.Builds Teams and Culture

Implements and manages all organizational safety directives and goals.Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, supporting the organization's corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.Education
Required : Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Master's degree in business, healthcare administration, related field, or equivalent executive experience.

Licensure / Certification / Registration :
Required : Valid Oregon Board of Pharmacy license (or eligibility for licensure). Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.
Preferred : Advanced leadership training or certification.
Experience :
Required : Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience, including five (5) years in senior management roles, including multi-site or system-level oversight.
Preferred : Experience in integrated health systems and value-based care environments.
