POSITION SUMMARY :

The primary responsibilities of the role include all aspects of processing, decontamination through set assembly, and sterilization and / or high-level disinfection. Dependent on the clinical setting preparation of surgical case carts and materials management may be expectations of the role.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Separate and prepare contaminated instrumentation for cleaning.
• Prepare, install, assemble, clean, and sterilize / disinfect operating room or procedure room equipment and instrumentation and medical devices.
• Decontaminate, process, sterilize / disinfect, and distribute medical supplies.
• Inspect and perform functional checks on instrumentation / equipment to assure proper functioning prior to set / tray assembly.
• Process, wrap, and label all equipment and instrumentation for sterilization using appropriate wraps and containers.
• Perform proper documentation as it relates to the sterilization / HLD process.
• Perform all duties relating to daily maintenance for all types of sterilizers / re-processors.
• Communicate departmental equipment and supply needs to appropriate supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
