Role Overview

As a Histologist , you will perform all phases of tissue processing, from fixation to final slide preparation, including special stains and techniques. This role includes maintaining equipment and instruments, managing laboratory supplies, keeping required documentation and records for state and federal licensing, and ensuring compliance with all laboratory procedures.

You will contribute to accurate, reliable pathology results while supporting BayCare's mission of excellence in patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tissue processing, sectioning, and special staining according to laboratory protocols.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring proper cleaning and functionality.

• Manage and maintain laboratory supplies and materials.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation required by state and federal licensing boards.

• Support laboratory operations by assisting with workflow and other assigned duties.

• Ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

?? Certification & Licensure

• Required: ASCP Certified Histotechnician (HT)

• Preferred: ASCP Certified Technologist in Chemistry

?? Education

• Required: High School Diploma or GED

• Preferred: Technical Program Completion or Associate's Degree in Histotechnology or related field

?? Experience

• Laboratory-related experience preferred
