Assistant Nurse Manager
Unit 5400 Acute Care Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (South Campus) is a 25-bed unit. This is a great opportunity for career development by stepping into nurse management. BSN is required and requires 2 to 5 years RN experience. The position is salaried and works full-time nights, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work four-10s or five-8s per week is available. Occasional weekend and holiday "call" is required. Benefits are eligible the first day of the month following the start date, including 401K.

Acute Care Medicine has patients with a full range of clinical issues, from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and a multitude of other conditions and diseases. Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Each unit is lead by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse. The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse. Additionally, each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care.
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to Nurse Managers and direct reports. This includes coordinating patient care, performance management of direct reports, equipment purchasing / management, and statistical accumulation.
Responsibilities include managing individuals, participating in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and expense budgets, providing and overseeing patient care, creating and ensuring implementation of a collaborative plan of care, supporting the review of staff hours, determining staffing needs, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring staff productivity and adherence to the overall operational goals of the department.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, 2-5 years of experience, and an RN license. Preferred requirements include 5-10 years of experience and less than 2 years of supervisor experience.
