Position Overview :
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting a lean Finance team responsible for internal and external reporting, budgeting and long-range forecasting, operational KPI analyses, ad hoc analyses, and business modeling. The analyst will partner with the Finance Manager to build scalable and efficient processes as Mark Spain Real Estate continues to grow as well as supporting operational leaders of the business ensuring timely and accurate information across all departments and the at the organization-level. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with 1-3 years of finance / FP&A experience in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment, and a passion for collaboration and opportunities.
Essential Functions :
1. Financial Reporting and Analysis :
- Generate financial reports and interpret financial information while recommending potential actions to improve financial results
- Partner with Accounting to ensure smooth and accurate month end close reporting
- Maintain and improve the company's consolidated reporting package, used for monthly board of directors meetings and other strategic reporting
- Report on company's operational KPIs and identify areas of strength and weakness in the business
- Partner with the Data Analytics team to develop detailed financial reporting and analytical capabilities in Looker, the company's BI tool
- Load forecasts and goals are approved and loaded into all systems
- Create ad-hoc analysis as needed based on requests from executive leadership
- Reporting, analyzing and explaining variances in weekly & monthly calls with business leaders
2. Financial Modeling :
Build and maintain complex financial models to support strategic initiatives and scenario planning3. Budgeting and Forecasting :
Utilize FP&A planning software to develop, manage, and analyze annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in collaboration with department heads and the executive teamSupport integration of new FP&A planning software, become an expert in FP&A planning tool, and own ongoing maintenance and updates to the systemContribute to the creation of a streamlined budgeting model which factors in all relevant business drivers and enables scenario analysisMonitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to identify areas ofimprovement
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, understand business processes, and provide financial insights5. Continuous Improvement :
Contribute to process improvement opportunities and enhancement of financial reporting and analysis processesKnowledge and Skills
Advanced Excel skills and experience with complex financial modelingExperience with SQL and Python highly desirableStrong understanding of AI models and up to date knowledge of AI capabilitiesStrong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to partner with the Accounting team to ensure financial results are reported in accordance with GAAPStrong proficiency with Looker or similar business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etcExperience with Salesforce, FPA planning software systems, Quickbooks online, LoneWolf (real estate accounting) software desirableExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilitiesStrong communication and presentation skillsAbility to analyze complex data sets and identify key takeawaysAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttention to detail and a commitment to accuracyRange of Experience
1-3+ years of experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role is requiredExperience in professional services businesses and / or industries with heavy B2C advertising is preferableEducation
