Position Summary\n\nThe Travel Med-Surg RN provides high-quality nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent patient assessment skills, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced acute care settings. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide direct patient care on a Med-Surg unit, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.\n\nMonitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.\n\nManage multiple patients with varying diagnoses across medical and post-surgical needs.\n\nUtilize critical thinking to implement and evaluate individualized care plans.\n\nCollaborate with healthcare providers to support patient recovery and discharge planning.\n\nMaintain accurate and timely charting in the facility’s EMR system (EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, etc., depending on assignment).\n\nFollow facility protocols, safety standards, and infection-control procedures.\n\nEducate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and self-care strategies.\n\nSupport safe transitions of care and ensure continuity across shifts.\n\nRequired Education\n\nGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing\n\nBSN preferred (varies by facility)\n\nRequired Experience\n\nMinimum of 1–2 years recent Med-Surg experience in an acute care hospital\n\nPrevious travel experience preferred (some facilities require no first-time travelers)\n\nStrong proficiency with EMR systems (EPIC preferred if requested)\n\nLicensure / Certifications\n\n\nBLS required (AHA)\n\nACLS required or preferred depending on facility\n\nNIHSS, CPI, or other specialty certifications may be required per hospital guidelines
