Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities. As Zoox launches our technology on public roads, we are seeking an experienced systems engineer who can bring the system engineering and fail-operational disciplines to Zoox’s unique autonomous robotaxi services, ensuring safe and continuous operations of Zoox technology. The role will focus on fail-operational performance of the robotaxi system including off-vehicle connectivity equipment and software, as well as remote operator workflows.

In this role, you will :

• Performance Metrics : Define, develop, and evolve fail-operational metrics to assess robotaxi journey completion, support services, and the readiness of the network and operational systems
• Proactive hazard analysis : Lead and perform hazard analysis to identify potential causes of service disruptions in the operations of robotaxi before they manifest in the field. Identify requirements and suggest risk mitigation strategies.
• Risk Mitigation : Lead initiatives to develop prevention and mitigation strategies for service disruptions, collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, legal, safety policy, manufacturing) on hardware, software, operational, and process improvements
• System Analysis & Verification : Conduct in-depth system analysis to create comprehensive verification and validation strategies for network and cloud software performance
• Cross-functional Alignment : Serve as the primary contact for collaborations with various stakeholders (e.g., Product / Cloud software, Firmware, Vehicle Engineering) and other SDMA subteams (e.g. functional safety, autonomy validation)
• Reporting : Author validation clearance reports to support milestone approvals

Base Salary Range

There are three major components to compensation for this position : salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
