Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician provides immediate medical care to individuals suffering from emergencies such as accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses. You will play a critical role in delivering pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support until the patient is entrusted into the care of the receiving medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at community events and provide standby services as needed.
• Document comprehensive assessments and treatments in patient care charting software.
• Provide care to patients in medical, psychiatric, and traumatic emergencies.
• Work collaboratively as part of a two-member ambulance crew, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate advanced emergency medical equipment including bag valve mask resuscitators and external defibrillators.
• Assess the extent of injury or illness and prioritize medical interventions.
• Respond to dispatch instructions while safely operating emergency vehicles to various locations.
• Administer medications under physician direction as necessary.
• Communicate with medical personnel at treatment facilities to coordinate patient care.
• Perform cleaning and decontamination of the ambulance following patient care for infectious diseases.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs short distances. Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and overhead reaching is required.
