Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a LDRP assignment requiring an active IA or compact RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

Work in an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit in an acute care setting

Care for low-risk maternal patients, including labor, delivery, and postpartum cases

Patient ratios are generally 1 : 3 mom-baby couplets and 1 : 1 for laboring patients

Common diagnoses include Level 1 maternal care, occasional magnesium sulfate and gestational diabetes cases

Night shift position with 12-hour shifts

Schedule includes every 3rd weekend

Alaris IV pumps are used in the unit

EPIC is the charting system utilized (prior experience preferred)

Unit is closed, and floating is not required

Charge nurses are present each shift and take patient assignments

Duties include managing labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care for mothers and newborns, including the administration of common drips such as insulin, magnesium sulfate, and pitocin

Flexible scheduling is preferred

Pass / Fail clinical skills exam is administered during orientation

Artificial nails are prohibited for all staff providing patient care

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Holiday coverage may be required as per unit needs

A 50-mile distance from the facility is required for eligibility

Requirements

Active IA or Compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration

Current BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required

Minimum of 2 years Labor & Delivery experience preferred

Must demonstrate competency in labor, delivery, and postpartum care; NICU experience is a plus

Driver's license is required to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius

Candidates may not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year

Ability to pass an open-book clinical skills exam with a minimum 90% score during orientation

References from a supervisor within the last 12 months and either a peer or supervisor from the last 3 years are required
