Based out of our Los Angeles District Office

SUMMARY :

Are you ready to make a significant impact on young people's lives and our community's future? As the Director of Development, you will be at the forefront of transforming lives by leading the effort to secure vital funding and support for Junior Achievement of Southern California (JASoCal). You will harness your expertise and network within the Southern California business and philanthropic community to develop and implement strategic funding initiatives. By stewarding and growing our existing funder relationships and driving strategies to acquire new donors, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term success of JASoCal.

Reporting directly to the CEO, your leadership and vision will be instrumental in achieving and surpassing our annual fundraising goals, ultimately empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Relationship Building : Develop and steward relationships with key funders, board members, volunteers, and JASoCal constituents to expand the corporate, event, and grant funding base. Oversee the fulfillment of strategic partnership deliverables and collaborate with internal stakeholders for
  • Representation : Serve as a JASoCal representative to community and business organizations, conferences, and meetings to network and present on behalf of
  • Financial Health : Strengthen the organization's long-term financial health by researching, connecting with, and securing corporate, government, and philanthropic prospects while stewarding existing
  • Strategic Planning : Develop quantifiable goals, objectives, and strategies tied to the JASoCal Strategic Plan, focusing on diversifying revenue
  • Cross Collaboration : Collaborate with funding sources and internal teams, working closely with the CEO, COO, and Advancement Team to provide regular internal feedback and address organizational
  • Partnerships and Grants : Identify, prioritize, and execute partnerships and grant opportunities to build robust year-round revenue pipelines and achieve new business
  • CRM Management : Actively use the JASoCal CRM system to track annual funding opportunities and maintain updates on funder. Provide analysis, written reporting, and forecasting on progress toward development priorities.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with the Senior Management Team to support annual program and fundraising events and ensure alignment with budgeted revenue
  • Additional Duties : Perform other job-related duties as assigned or requested, working proactively, collaboratively, and responsively to support overall organizational
  • Required Qualifications for Director of Development

  • Education and Experience : Bachelors degree with over 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in roles where you successfully met measurable goals in fundraising, sales, or new business partnerships, preferably within a nonprofit
  • Professional Comfort : Proven ability to work comfortably with JA funders and partners, including CEOs and executives from elite business, philanthropic, or community
  • Self-Management : Demonstrated experience in managing your own workload with independent initiative and judgment, balancing short-term objectives with long-range business
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to lift 25 pounds and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Transportation : Valid CA drivers license and reliable, California-insured transportation for work-related travel throughout the area (mileage reimbursed).
  • Work Environment : Willingness and ability to work in-person at HQ offices and engage in business outreach
  • DESIRED :

  • Preference for individuals with a background specifically in a non-profit organization or a corporate CSR division, with responsibility for an annual revenue target, and with an understanding of non-profit and corporate CSR, government, and individual / family foundation fundraising.
