Must-Have :

NICU Level 2 or higher experience

PIV insertion, NG placement and feedings

Assisting with procedures

Daily care of sick and preterm newborns

Recognition of changes in newborns

Description :

The unit has 11 beds with patient ratios ranging from 2 : 1 to 3 : 1.

The staffing includes a Charge RN who attends deliveries and admissions, along with two staff RNs.

Equipment used on the unit includes Vapotherm, Avea Vent, Giraffes, Alaris IV pumps, and Syringe Feeding Pumps.

The documentation system utilized is CPN and Meditech.

The schedule requires three 12-hour shifts per week.

There is no floating outside of the NICU.

Family-centered care is provided to enhance patient experiences.

Advanced skills are required for procedures such as PIV, UAC, UVC, PICC, lumbar puncture, chest needling, chest tubes, surfactant administration, and glucose monitoring.

All private rooms are available in the NICU, emphasizing family involvement in care.

An Infant Driven Feeding approach is used, supported by lactation consultants.

There is a twin room option for connected care.

The unit has received recognition and awards, including a Unit of Distinction for NICU and an Employee Engagement score of 85-95% in the past year.
