Role Overview
The Shelter Manager provides day-to-day leadership and supervision of Everyone Village’s emergency shelter and medical recuperation programs. This role is responsible for frontline program operations, staff supervision, Villager(client) support, and on-site safety within the larger Village environment.
Reporting directly to the Program & Administration Director , the Shelter Manager serves as the primary on-site authority during assigned shifts , ensuring programs operate safely, consistently, and in alignment with organizational standards, policies, and values.
The Shelter Manager plays a critical role in cultivating an environment where Villagers, staff, volunteers, and partners feel safe, respected, supported, and connected —so that everyone who lives, works, or serves within the Village can feel at home.
This is a leadership role within a rapidly growing organization and requires adaptability, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently while maintaining strong communication with senior leadership.

Essential Responsibilities
Program & Site Operations
Oversee daily operations of the emergency shelter and medical recuperation programsEnsure a safe, clean, and orderly environment across program areasMonitor facilities, grounds, and equipment; document and report damage or safety concerns promptlyImplement program policies and procedures consistently and fairlyCommunicate operational needs, trends, and concerns to the Program & Administration DirectorStaff Leadership & Supervision
Directly supervise, schedule, and support frontline program staffEnsure staff perform in accordance with program expectations and organizational policiesParticipate in hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, evaluating and corrective action processes in coordination with the Program & Administration DirectorCoach staff to build strong professional skills, healthy boundaries, and trauma-informed practicePrepare and facilitate case conferencing and shift communication as neededManage staff on-call coverage and serve as primary point of contact during scheduled shiftsVillager Support & Community Living
Support Villager move-in and move-out processes for both programsEncourage voluntary compliance with Village and program rules; document violations as requiredAssist staff in responding to Villager needs, concerns, and conflictsSupport consistent and respectful application of discipline and corrective actionsCrisis Response & Safety
Respond to and de-escalate crisis situations involving Villagers, staff, or visitorsCoordinate with emergency personnel and partner organizations when necessaryEnsure incidents are documented accurately and reported to the Program & Administration Director in a timely mannerMaintain a calm, steady leadership presence during high-stress situationsAdministrative & Program Support
Assesses accurate case notes, reports, and documentationEnter and manage required data within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)Provide operational input into program planning and budget developmentAttend required meetings, trainings, and supervision sessionsCommunicate program successes, challenges, and needs to leadershipCommunity & Partner Engagement

Required Qualifications
Demonstrated alignment with the mission, values, and culture of Everyone VillageMinimum of 2 years of experience in the social services sectorAt least 1 year of experience working directly with homeless populations preferredDemonstrated experience supervising staff or leading teamsAbility to maintain professional boundaries and confidentialityStrong communication skills with diverse populationsAbility to articulate program guidelines and expectations clearlyStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsHigh level of attention to detail and comfort with documentation and reportingPersonal integrity, reliability, and emotional maturityComputer proficiency (smartphone, email, Microsoft Office Suite, HMIS or similar systems)Valid driver’s licenseAbility to complete required trainings (trauma-informed care, de-escalation, motivational interviewing) within 90 days of hirePosition Details
Schedule : In-person, Monday–Friday, approximately 40 hours / week(Evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities as needed)Compensation : $27.50 / hour with generous paid holidays and paid time off packagePay Schedule : Direct deposit on the 15th and last day of each monthPhysical & Environmental Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting (up to 40 lbs). Manual dexterity, reaching above and below shoulder height, and working in an active Village environment are required.
