Field Engineer Intern

Shimmick is actively seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer Intern for employment in our Northwest Division. Exact location is to be determined, but opportunities exist throughout Northern California, including San Francisco, Modesto, Santa Cruz and Sacramento. Expected start is May or June, 2026 with an end date in August or September pending the academic schedules.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

• Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
• Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
• Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.
• Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.
• Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.
• Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
• Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.
• Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).
• Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.
• Attending and taking minutes for the development team as requested.
• Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.
• Assisting with community outreach duties as needed.
• Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.
• Undertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers.
• Having a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets.
