Day-to-Day Responsibilities / Workload :
This contractor role supports the Field Engineering group within Distribution Engineering. The engineer will work closely with Field Engineering teams to support capital project scoping, field-based assessments, and process improvement initiatives.
The role emphasizes technical analysis, documentation, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Conduct field assessments and power system modeling (e.g., load flow studies).
Support grid modernization, infrastructure replacement, and resiliency programs.
Scope capital projects including overhead / underground conductor replacements, programmable capacitor control, and fuse upgrades.
Document and track projects using s Project Initiation Forms (PIFs) and Master Distribution Interface (MDI).
Provide recommendations and documentation for system and process improvements.
Assist in training and guiding engineering teams on new tools and procedures.
Required Skills / Attributes :
Working knowledge of the distribution grid, automated equipment, and telemetry systems\Ability to read and interpret electrical maps and schematics\Familiarity with applications (CYME, DMS, EMS, Circuit Viewer, ADMS,
etc.)\nBasic understanding of engineering principles and electric power flow\Experience with data validation, troubleshooting, and equipment testing\Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Apps) for reporting and analysis\Strong attention to
detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks\Effective communication and collaboration skills with engineers, field crews, and stakeholders
