POSITION TITLE: SERVICE CREW WORKER REPORTS TO MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

OVERTIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE:107

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs responsible unskilled work in picking up and delivering supplies, furniture, equipment and materials, performing general building and grounds maintenance and in the operation of motorized equipment; does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
Picking up and delivering furniture, equipment and supplies; assisting in the warehouse; performing general building and grounds maintenance work.

• Loads custodial, instruction and other equipment and supplies;
• Delivers supplies, furniture, equipment and other goods;
• Sets up meeting and conference rooms for special functions;
• Sets up and stocks learning centers and labs;
• Picks up electronic equipment, transports to shop for repairs;
• Gathers, compiles and delivers instructional materials and supplies;
• Sets up and takes down exhibits;
• Assists with work in the storeroom or warehouse;
• Assists with grounds and building cleaning and maintenance services;
• Picks up and delivers mail;
• Performs other service tasks as required;
• Performs related tasks as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing trucks and related equipment; general knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; general knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of High School and some experience in the operation of motorized equipment. Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Employee required to obtain a CDL driver's license within an 18 month period after hire.
