Surgical Technician (Day Shift)

Location :   Lafayette, LA 70506

Department : General Surgery

Worker Type : Temporary Contractor

Duration : 13 Weeks

Hours : 40 hours / week

Shift : Day Shift | 6 : 30 AM – 3 : 00 PM | 8-hour shifts

Job Overview

The Surgical Technician supports surgical procedures by preparing instruments, assisting physicians, maintaining equipment, and ensuring availability / sterility of supplies. Works under RN supervision and performs patient care and unit support duties.

Required Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

Minimum 2 years experience

Experience in General Surgery, ENT, Urology, OB / GYN, Podiatry, Pain Management

Required Certifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

BLS (American Heart Association)

Job Duties

Assist physicians directly during surgical procedures

Provide daily operational support to the department

Maintain clinical competency, equipment knowledge, and required credentials

Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of scopes

Perform patient care tasks

Complete other duties as assigned

Adhere to compliance, privacy, and safety standards

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting of 10–20 lbs, occasional lifting up to 100 lbs

Exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases

Possible exposure to hazardous medications or waste

Works directly in patient care areas
