Job Description
The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients with a focus on assessment, treatment, and education. This role involves actively collaborating with the patient care team and ensures adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Consistently perform and document thorough patient assessments.Establish and communicate appropriate care plans with the patient care team.Correctly perform and document routine therapeutic modalities, including aerosolized medications, secretion management, pulmonary volume expansion, and oxygen therapy.Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators according to established protocols.Provide patient and family education related to disease management.Assist in the intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.Manage acute airway during emergent situations.Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring, such as ETCO monitors and pulse oximeters.Assist with discharge planning for patients needing respiratory-related DME supplies.Collect arterial blood gas samples and process through point-of-care analyzers.Maintain confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA regulations.Function as Shift Coordinator as designated after one year of employment.Assist medical teams in fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures and the placement of invasive monitoring lines.Serve as a preceptor for orientees and students during clinical rotations.Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (Required)Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)Preferred experience : Greater than 2 years as an RRTWhy ARMStaffing?
