Shift Type : 24-Hour Call (7a-7a)

About the Opportunity

A respected health system in the Richmond area is seeking a Locum Thoracic Surgeon to support its thoracic team. This role offers the chance to make an immediate impact in a busy, hospital-based, acute-care practice .

You will assist as needed with a robust mix of advanced thoracic procedures, working alongside strong OR, ICU, and hospitalist support teams.

Required Skills & Procedures

You must be capable of performing :

Bronchoscopy

Robot-Assisted Thoracic Surgery

VATS

Navigational Bronchoscopy

EBUS / EUS

Tube Thoracostomy

Tracheostomy

Pericardial Window

Thoracotomy

Lobectomy, Segmentectomy, Bilobectomy, Pneumonectomy

Decortication

and more

Additional Areas of Care Include :

Achalasia

Complex lung disease

GERD / Anti-reflux surgery

Esophageal cancer

Lung cancer / nodules

Mesothelioma

Chest wall tumors

Diaphragmatic hernias & plication

Thoracic outlet syndrome

Tracheal stenosis

Job Requirements (MANDATED)

Board Certified Thoracic Surgeon

Active VA license (no exceptions)

BLS & ACLS

Local providers only (mileage reimbursed at IRS rate)

Practice Details

Average Cases per Day : 2-3

ORs Available : 21

Setting : Hospital-based acute care

Patient Ages : Adult & Geriatric

EMR : EPIC

Support Staff : OR, ICU, hospitalists

Reason for Need : Backup coverage for existing thoracic team

Credentialing

Estimated Timeframe : 120 days

Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
