Job Description

This long-standing, well-respected small animal hospital in Newton, MA is seeking a Medical Director to lead their multi-doctor team. This is an opportunity to step into a thriving, community-rooted practice where collaboration, stability, and high-quality medicine are at the heart of daily operations.

The hospital is a busy, 3-doctor general practice offering a broad range of services, including preventative care, dentistry, surgery, digital radiography, and ultrasound. The facility is well-equipped, supported by a team of experienced technicians and dedicated client service professionals. With a loyal client base that spans Newton, Watertown, Waltham, Brighton, and surrounding areas, this practice is proud to be a trusted partner in the community’s pet health.

As Medical Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping the hospital’s clinical standards, supporting doctor development, guiding hospital operations in partnership with the Practice Manager, and fostering a culture grounded in teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.

This is an ideal position for a veterinarian with strong leadership instincts who wants to influence medical quality, mentor colleagues, and drive strategic growth while still maintaining an enjoyable caseload.

About You

  • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
  • You hold (or are eligible for) a licensure in Massachusetts
  • Leadership interest or experience, with a collaborative, coaching-focused approach
  • Strong commitment to high-quality medicine & positive hospital culture
  • Comfortable balancing clinical duties with leadership responsibilities
