Must have balloon pump experience. Must be comfortable with Vent management and drip titration. Description : This unit has a 50-mile radius rule. All submissions must include a copy of an unexpired driver’s license. Licensing hits must be disclosed at the time of submission. The unit has 10 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2-3. Common diagnoses include respiratory distress, post-arrest, acute myocardial infarction, balloon pumps, ventilators, and patients requiring vasopressor support. Nurses are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include vasopressors, levophed, norepinephrine, epinephrine, nitroglycerin, heparin, and angioplasty. A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment. Nurse assistants or patient care technicians are available, but not in-house 24 / 7. They typically work from midnight to 7 PM. A hospitalist or intensivist is not in-house 24 / 7; they are on-call during nighttime hours. Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7 and is assigned to multiple units. Registered Nurses are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. There are no telemetry or monitor techs on this unit; nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a 4-week scheduling process that allows staff to create their ideal schedule. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday rotation may be required. There is no call or standby requirement. Travelers may float to any inpatient unit, with travelers being the first to float. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. This is not a closed unit; primary physicians manage care. Charting is done using Cerner Corporation's Soarian system. A BSN is not required for this position.
