Title : Jr. Data Scientist, AI and Machine Learning

Location : 100% Remote

Target Start Date : ASAP

Type : contract or contract to hire

Pay Rate : DOE

We're looking for an industry-leading Data Scientist focused on building production-level machine learning solutions. This role emphasizes applying ML / AI to real-world healthcare challengessuch as reducing costs and improving care quality. You will work with structured and unstructured data (claims, membership, provider info, medical records, etc.) using both on-premise and cloud-based big data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders (R&D, Operations, Product) to assess ML / AI-driven business opportunities and risks.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to validate hypotheses for use cases.
• Document methodology and results clearly to foster team collaboration.
• Develop, validate, and QA train ML models; collaborate with production operations for deployment and performance monitoring.
• Deliver end-to-end, value-driven solutionscovering data pipelines, model development, and user-facing applications.
• Engage in knowledge-sharing and platform design sessions to advance the data science framework.
• Provide solutions targeting payment integrity, cost reduction in audits, and quality-of-care improvements.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience implementing machine learning solutions at scale in production environments.

Proficient in handling large datasets using Python, Scala / Spark, and leveraging cloud-based ML / AI tools.

Expertise in applying statistical methods to solve business problems and interpret outcomes.

Strong track record presenting data-driven insights across varying levelsfrom analysts to executives.

Familiarity with health insurance models, managed care principles, coding standards, claims adjudication, and fraud / waste / abuse processes.

0-4 years of experience developing and deploying ML models in commercial or operational settings.

Experience with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Jira).
