DevOps Engineer

An employer is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join the Security Engineering team. This is a 6-month contract role (potential to hire) focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable DevOps solutions. The position will play a key role in modernizing legacy build infrastructure, accelerating software delivery, and embedding security into every stage of the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Modernization Project
• Migrate from legacy Perl-based build systems (built in the late 1990s) to modern CI / CD pipelines.
• Containerize applications and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• High-visibility initiative reporting to the CIO.
• Core DevOps Duties
• Design, build, and maintain CI / CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
• Architect and implement IaC for on-prem and cloud environments (Terraform / OpenTofu, AWS CloudFormation).
• Automate provisioning, deployment, testing, and monitoring using Python, Bash.
• Develop and manage containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Implement continuous monitoring, logging, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, OTEL).
• Apply configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack).
• Champion DevSecOps by integrating security checks into pipelines and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex system and deployment issues.
• Collaborate in Agile teams; participate in daily stand-ups, design reviews, and 2-week sprints.
• Document technical solutions and mentor peers on best practices.
