Description of the Position:

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for implementing and ensuring that the operations of Maintenance Team Members are efficient and productive in completing assigned projects and duties in compliance with Company standards. Team Member will work independently under minimal supervision. This position will rely on extensive experience and very good judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
  • All team members are obligated to support and uphold the Valley View Casino & Hotel's Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the maintenance functions in the absence of the Facilities Manager.
  • Takes direction from the Facilities Manager on establishing, prioritizing daily work and tasks for team members under span of control.
  • Oversees the working conditions and ensures the safety of all team members under span of control.
  • Demonstrates and oversees safe work procedures and equipment operation by Valley View Casino & Hotel team members.
  • Responsible for implementing safety programs to ensure all team members and guests are provided a safe, hazard free establishment.
  • Maintains all mechanical equipment in working conditions, ensuring all worn parts are replaced and maintaining parts inventory stock.
  • Responsible for the improving the quality of work and efficiency of team members under span of control.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all general maintenance and repairs of minor problems throughout the property are promptly and correctly done.
  • Supervises the routine preventative maintenance of all duties assigned to team members.
  • Reviews facilities requests, resolves complaints, concerns and operational / technical problems, and reports major issues.
  • Ensures adherence to all OSHA regulations and internal safety policies and procedures.
  • Drafts and recommends maintenance schedules, productivity, quality standards and safety procedures; recommends solutions to operational and technical problems.
  • Inspects work in progress and upon completion for compliance with work plans.
  • Assists in coordinating work projects with other departments if needed.
  • Operates a company vehicle to perform Valley View Casino & Hotel related business.
  • May serve as department representative at meetings.
  • Conducts daily inspections of property and project areas to ensure efficient operations and to trouble shoot any problems or breakdowns.
  • Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises any Team Member(s) under span of control.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching and/or correcting Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems toward a non biased outcome.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of journeyman apprenticeship or trade certification in HVAC/R, Electrical, Mechanical, Carpentry or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Kitchen Equipment or two years of supervisory or management experience in a maintenance field.
  • Knowledge of advanced concepts, practices and procedures in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or commercial flooring.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure and technical manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members of organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening test.
  • Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
  • College or trade school level training in HVAC/R, Electric or Mechanics.
  • Demonstrated experience in the art of coaching for success.
  • Previous experience working for a tribal enterprise or Gaming environment.
Physical Requirements of the Position:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) is needed for navigating office and casino environments, reading and reviewing reports and policies, operating data processing equipment and other essential job functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The Team Member is occasionally required to sit.
  • The Team Member is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, manipulate, handle or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to second hand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The Team Member is occasionally subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The Team Member is regularly subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions and is regularly exposed to extreme heat and cold. The team member may be required to work in inclement weather. Work surfaces may be slippery, steep, and/or rugged terrain.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.
