Overview
A prominent Caribbean luxury resort is seeking a highly skilled Director of Engineering to lead its engineering, maintenance, and sustainability functions. This confidential search is ideal for a seasoned professional with substantial experience managing engineering operations in island or remote hospitality settings.
The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong operational planning skills, and a hands‑on leadership style to ensure that all facilities, utilities, and infrastructure operate optimally. A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset and previous island resort experience are key to thriving in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all engineering and maintenance operations across guest villas, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas.
- Oversee the performance and reliability of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, water, and waste systems.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Drive sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives aligned with resort goals.
- Manage, train, and mentor the engineering and maintenance team, emphasizing safety and accountability.
- Work closely with contractors, vendors, and local regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and ongoing projects.
- Develop and oversee operational budgets, capital improvement plans, and expense forecasts.
- Provide strategic support for long‑term infrastructure planning and upgrades.
- Uphold safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance across all engineering operations.
