Candidates should possess BLS and ACLS certifications. Nursing staff will be required to read and interpret EKG strips. Ventilator management experience is essential. Charge nurses generally do not take patients but may provide break relief. Nurse aides will be available as safety attendants. Weekend work will be required every other weekend. Holidays will be rotated among core staff. Self-scheduling will be utilized, but schedules will need to be balanced by the manager. Traveling nurses are the first to float to other facilities. Common diagnoses include postoperative recoveries, trauma cases, and CRRT. The charge nurse role may involve handling both surgical and trauma patients depending on unit needs. Nurses will participate in interdisciplinary rounds on all patients during day shifts. Shifts will commence at 6 : 45 AM with reports provided at the bedside. There are opportunities for extra shifts and trades with other staff. Nurses will need to complete 1 - 2 days of orientation on the floor with a preceptor. Common procedures include line placements and rapid infusions. Cancellation policy includes potential shift cancellations during assignments.
