The accounting division for a family of privately owned waste disposal and recycling companies is hiring for a Controller . Operating since 1976, our businesses span six states and serve rapidly growing metropolitan areas, including Chicago, Memphis, Clearwater, Orlando, and San Antonio.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Controller to lead accounting operations across multiple recycling locations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on financial work, managing staff, and collaborating closely with ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage accounting checklists for daily / weekly / monthly accounting work.
- Conduct month-end close and review financial statements
- Supervise and develop office accounting staff
- Conduct performance reviews
- Train new team members
- Support departmental hiring
- Measuring workload / workflow and have cross training for proper staffing size
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and duties
- Analyze trends and variances; develop cost-reduction strategies
- Manage budgets and forecasting for assigned locations
- Support special projects as assigned by management
