Position : Manufacturing Planner
Location : Palmdale, CA
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Planner to join our team. This role involves analyzing engineering documentation and determining the most practical manufacturing operations and sequences to produce comprehensive work instructions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in manufacturing planning, engineering interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering drawings, models, specifications, and procedures to develop detailed work instructions and supporting documentation.
- Plan and sequence manufacturing operations for one or more of the following areas :
- Machine parts
- Composite details and assemblies
- Airframe structures
- Aircraft systems and check-outs
- Wiring and electrical systems
- Plumbing
- Aircraft maintenance
- Material Review Board (MRB) processes
- Coatings
- Apply advanced knowledge of shop theory, tooling, and manufacturing methods.
- Collaborate with engineering, tooling, and production teams to ensure cost-effective and accurate planning.
- Act as a liaison between Engineering, Planning, Tool Design, Tool Shops, and Production to ensure alignment between fabrication sequences and planning instructions.
- Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Must be willing to work any shift or schedule as required.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in manufacturing planning or equivalent experience in engineering documentation development.Proven ability to create comprehensive work instructions across multiple manufacturing domains.Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.Strong technical writing skills.In-depth knowledge of fabrication, tooling, manufacturing, and inspection processes related to aircraft or complex mechanical systems.Experience with software tools such as SAP, MS Office, CAPP / SFM, Solumina / iBASEt, Teamcenter, and 3DX.Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM), Manufacturing BOM (MBOM), and Order BOM (OBOM).Experience resolving BOM-related issues across cross-functional teams.Familiarity with CAD / CAE tools such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or CATIA.Experience with PLM systems like Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or SAP PLM.Degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience (e.g., aerospace, automotive, consumer products).Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
