Service Department Manager
$85,000 - $110,000 per year
Pay based upon experience and education
Manage the Colton Truck Terminal Garage in a profitable, courteous, and efficient manner.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Prepare and implement the format for job procedures - safety - maintenance of equipment.Scheduling work flow. Maintain productivity and quality; coordinate work flow.Service writing and control of work in progress. Receive information from customer for scheduled work.Oversee Mechanics and their duties as per their job description. Ensuring quality work productivity, and job progress. Assist in problem area's. Oversee training and expanding their abilities and mechanical expertise.Oversee Shop parts person and their duties per job description. Giving assistance and guidance in the procurement of parts for shop jobs. Setting priorities in their tasks and assisting in problem area's.Oversee Shop service writer and his duties per job description. Assist in the coordination of his time spent in shop related activities. Supervising the needs and time spent in trouble shooting and training.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Make recommendations relating to equipment, tools, supplies, office, inventory, and vehicle needs.Make recommendations as to personnel needs or problems.Supervise the safe and orderly storage of parts, supplies, and equipment.Supervise the upkeep and maintenance of company tools, equipment, and vehicles. Maintain a schedule for maintenance of all shop equipment and company vehicles.Make recommendations for future expansion and growth.Supervise, organize, and participate in training seminars for mechanics. Utilize training budget for maximum return.Employee / company relations are carried out as per Company Policy Manual.Participation in safety and safety meetings.Quality control - determine if work has been done correctly. Implement quality control procedures.Supervise and assist with the billing of all work performed by Shop. Generate each invoice through computer, giving a clear description of work completed and all parts used. Review and finalize invoices.Supervise the procurement of parts for shop work. Make recommendations as to the purchase of parts, parts inventory, shop parts department.Oversee the introduction and training of all personnel.Evaluate new and regular employees on a scheduled basis. Effectively relate to each employee their strong points; areas of concern, or areas of improvement as needed.Ensuring safe work practices are maintained by all employees.Resolve customer complaints and in reference to work, come backs, or pricing.SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Personality : Should possess sales personality, be interested in people, have a generally outgoing, pleasant nature. Should be well groomed and neat appearing.Physically fit : Must be in good health and capable of handling the pressures of customer / employee relations.Management Expertise : Capable of managing people, customers, and employees.Valid California Class B Drivers license. Class A preferredBusiness Management experience.Well-rounded knowledge of Diesel Engines, Brake & Suspension, Drive line Components, air-conditioning, Electrical.Knowledge of Cummins warranty procedures.Why consider Fleet Services, Inc.?
