We are inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the English program at the Merced Campus, situated within the vibrant Humanities Division. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of twenty English faculty, contributing to a division that values creativity, critical thinking, and cultural engagement.
The English program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for diverse academic and career pathways. Key offerings include an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in English, courses that satisfy Cal-GETC GE Breadth requirements, and foundational preparation for students pursuing careers in literature, education, writing, law, and the humanities. The program maintains strong transfer pathways to four-year universities and emphasizes equity-minded teaching practices.

The program is known for its dedication to fostering analytical and communication skills through engaging coursework in composition, literature, and creative writing. Salary Schedule :
Position's initial maximum salary placement is $96,951
All successful candidates with doctorates will receive both the two step placement and the doctoral stipend
General Description :
Professor of English is a full time, tenure-track position in the Humanities Department at Merced College, under the general direction of the Dean of Instruction. The professor will teach a variety of courses in the field of English, as well as collaborate with colleagues in related disciplines. The standard teaching load is 15 units per semester, which may include evening, weekend, and variable hours. The primary teaching assignment will include teaching face-to-face and online classes, and is subject to change as needed.
