Database Engineer Contractor

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Engineer Contractor to support a Deloitte project team. This role requires strong expertise in relational database development, ETL processes, and performance optimization within complex data environments. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with capital markets, trading data, order management systems, and trade surveillance platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for a data-focused engineer who thrives in high-stakes financial environments and has strong development skills in Python and Java.

• Location : Remote (Client based in New York, NY)
• Contract : 8+ Months (W2)

Level : Advanced (6–9 years of experience)

Responsibilities :

Design, develop, and optimize large relational databases to meet project needs.

Build and maintain ETL processes to integrate new systems with existing data warehouse structures.

Improve database performance, ensuring fast and efficient data retrieval.

Implement and enforce database security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality.

Conduct regular data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Support ongoing database enhancements, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts.

Required Qualifications :

Required Experience :

6–9 years of hands-on database engineering experience.

Background in capital markets, including securities and commodities trading data.

Experience with order management systems.

Experience in the implementation or configuration of trade surveillance systems such as :

NICE Actimize

Nasdaq Smarts

Trading Hub

Strong skills in ETL / data transformation.
