Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Hospitalist in the Emergency Medicine Critical Decision Unit.

The Rush University Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine and Division of Hospital Medicine jointly seek an PA to continue their strong, collaborative relationship through joint-appointments, functional cross-training, periodic interdepartmental shift assignments, and engagement on multi-specialty process improvement activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Primary responsibility for multiple patients at any given time in the Emergency Department Critical Decision Unit to treat ESI levels 2, 3, 4, & 5.

· Completes and documents patient history and physical examinations into the electronic medical record system.

· Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans, and monitor patient status

· Prescribe medications, initiate consultations, conduct laboratory and diagnostic tests, procedures, and therapies and review the results

· Rotate shifts including nights/weekends.

· Collaborate with ED/Hospitalist physicians when appropriate on patient management

· Additional moonlighting opportunities in the ER, with hospital medicine, telemedicine via the OnDemand service

Skills/Abilities:

· Demonstrates competency in all areas of APRN or PA practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.

· Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.

· Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with collaborating physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Applicants with 3+ years previous acute care Physician Assistant experience is required.

· APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification when doing Inpatient work.

Position Requirements:

Physician Assistant:

• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
• Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
• Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications required

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

Pay Range: $124,610 - $175,000
