Tooling Engineer St. Johns MI

Salary Range : $71000 - $110000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design develop and modify manufacturing tools dies jigs and fixtures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling failures and performance issues.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for all production tooling.
  • Collaborate with production design and quality teams to optimize tooling for manufacturing processes.
  • Specify procure and manage inventory for new and replacement tooling components.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for tooling on the production floor.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tooling technologies and materials to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in tooling design development and maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD / CAM software for tooling design and analysis (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam).
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g. machining stamping injection molding) and associated tooling.
  • Knowledge of tooling materials heat treatment and surface finishes.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tooling issues optimize designs and implement continuous improvements.

    • Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced simulation software (e.g. FEA mold flow analysis).
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes for tooling (e.g. 3D printed inserts jigs fixtures).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Proficiency in advanced metrology techniques and software (e.g. GOM Inspect CMM programming).
