Principal Engineer - Python, AI Healthcare Systems

Salary : $87,000 - 127,000 per year

Requirements :

• 10–15+ years of professional software engineering experience, including senior technical roles
• Extensive expertise in Python with significant production experience using Django and / or FastAPI
• Strong full-stack capabilities with React and Next.js
• Proven ability to design and scale complex, distributed systems
• Advanced knowledge of RESTful APIs, asynchronous processing, and service-oriented architectures
• Significant experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ORM-based data modeling
• Hands-on experience integrating AI / ML features into real-world production systems
• Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, testing methodologies, and system scalability
• Comfortable thriving in fast-paced startup settings with high ownership and ambiguity

Responsibilities :

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services using Python, Django, and FastAPI

Contribute to and guide the creation of modern front-end applications utilizing React and Next.js

Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested production code

Troubleshoot and resolve intricate system, performance, and reliability challenges

Design and optimize data models leveraging Django ORM / SQLAlchemy

Architect and maintain solutions using PostgreSQL and MongoDB

Integrate AI / ML models into production workflows that support probabilistic reasoning, inference, and decision-making logic

Create APIs that facilitate intelligent workflows, embeddings, and model-driven functionalities

Provide technical mentorship to both senior and mid-level engineers

Collaborate with Product and clinical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions

Work closely with DevOps to ensure reliable deployments, observability, and compliance readiness
