Qualifications :

High School Diploma or equivalent
Five (5) years of school bookkeeper or relevant experience required

Nature of Work :

The School-Based Finance Operations Trainer provides specialized support and training to ensure accurate compliant and efficient financial practices at the school level while serving as a key liaison between Finance and Human Resources. This role focuses on building the capacity of school bookkeepers administrative staff and administrators to correctly apply budget codes understand staffing allotments and interpret how licensure requirements impact payroll position funding and compliance. The trainer develops and delivers practical guidance tools and resources that translate complex financial and HR processes into clear actionable procedures. By monitoring common errors supporting corrective practices and strengthening cross-department communication the School-Based Finance Operations Trainer improves financial accuracy reduces risk and promotes alignment between personnel decisions and district funding structures.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

Demonstrated knowledge of school finance operations including budget codes fund sources and position funding structures.

Strong understanding of HR processes related to licensure staffing allotments payroll placement and compliance requirements.

Ability to train and coach adult learners with varying levels of financial and technical expertise.

Skill in translating complex financial and HR policies into clear practical guidance and user-friendly tools.

Proficiency in analyzing staffing and budget data to identify errors trends and compliance risks.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively bridge Finance and Human Resources functions.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy confidentiality and attention to detail.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities :

Provide ongoing training and professional development to school bookkeepers administrative staff and principals on budget coding financial procedures and personnel funding practices.

Serve as a liaison between Finance and Human Resources to support alignment of staffing decisions with funding sources and licensure requirements.

Assist schools in understanding and managing staffing allotments including the financial implications of position changes or misalignments.

Develop and maintain guidance documents flowcharts and reference materials related to finance and HR procedures.

Monitor financial transactions and staffing data to identify errors compliance issues and areas for corrective support.

Support implementation and use of district financial and HR systems ensuring consistency and accuracy in data entry and reporting.

Provide technical assistance to resolve coding errors position misclassifications and payroll discrepancies.

Analyze trends in financial and staffing practices and recommend process improvements.

Prepare reports and summaries that support leadership decision-making related to school-based finance operations.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Requirements :

This work will require frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.

Work will regularly require speaking or hearing frequently requires walking and sitting and occasionally requires standing using hands for manual dexterity or to handle or feel stooping kneeling crouching or crawling reaching with hands and arms and lifting.

Work will require preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office light traffic).
