A Buyer at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Procurement team supporting efforts to maintain and optimize inventory and coordinate logistics. This position involves maintaining inventory levels, coordinating freight, and assisting inventory and buying teams and is ideal for someone who has analytical skills, organizational skills, and is detail orientated.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Control Management
- Attend daily inventory meetings
- Manage stock items and communicate updates, including new, discontinued, and changes in product and packaging technologies
- Maintain cost fields for stock items in AS400
- Develop weekly sales forecasts and purchase products accordingly to meet inventory requirements
- Market Analysis and Collaboration
- Work with sales team to analyze market conditions and competitive activity
- Assist in developing sales and market plans
- Utilize supplier lead times to maximize company advantages
- Respond to sales requests for research and sourcing new products
- Logistics Coordination
- Ensure adherence to delivery schedules by-product transport carriers
- Prepare purchase orders for daily receiving and provide transportation instructions
- Track freight and confirm purchase orders for inbound shipments
- Administrative Support and Customer Service
- Cross-train with buyers and inventory control for coverage
- Update bid sheets and handle various accounts in sales
- Print and distribute daily fresh product information
- Answer telephones and assist with inquiries
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.
What you bring to Pacific Seafood
Education and Experience
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business or another related field
- Minimum two years’ experience as a buyer
- Preferred
- Strong computer skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel
- Work experience in the food industry
