Staff engineering technician

job summary:
A Staff Engineering Technician is needed for a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company. This senior-level role requires 3 to 5 years of experience in the substation industry and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) ideally with Substation Design Suite (SDS) to independently develop complex schematics, mentor staff, and ensure regulatory compliance, and candidates can work out of any company location as long as they are within a 50 mile radius of the office.

responsibilities:

• Functions in a senior-level capacity performing advanced drafting and design for electrical substations with minimal supervision.
  
  
• Utilizes AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and Substation Design Suite (SDS) to create and modify complex project deliverables.
  
  
• Applies deep knowledge of engineering standards, document control processes, and applicable codes to ensure technical accuracy.
  
  
• Develops detailed design concepts, schematics, and layouts based on diverse design inputs.
  
  
• Performs technical computations, including the development of material quantities and project estimates.
  
  
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design interferences or errors.
  
  
• Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and work delegation to junior engineering professionals.
  
  
• Manages project finalization tasks, such as consolidating records for as-built drawings and quantities.
  
  
• Proactively researches and implements emerging technologies and processes to improve production methods.

Education and Experience:

• Diploma or Certificate preferred.
  
  
• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
  
  
• 3-5 yrs experience with AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) with SDS (Substation Design Suite) in the substation industry.
