Principal Engineer

Principal Engineer | US | Remote Role Summary

We are seeking a senior technical leader to design, build, and scale production-grade Voice AI systems used by enterprise customers. This role will own end-to-end architecture, drive technical excellence across AI / ML systems, and partner closely with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-accuracy AI solutions in real-world environments. The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, customer-facing AI products.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of scalable, low-latency Voice AI and LLM-based systems

Own system architecture across speech, NLP, orchestration, and backend services

Drive production readiness, reliability, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI systems

Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions

Mentor senior and mid-level engineers; set best practices for code quality and system design

Evaluate and integrate new AI models, tools, and frameworks as the ecosystem evolves

Ensure high accuracy, performance, and robustness in real-world customer deployments

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Master's degree or equivalent practical experience is a plus

Experience

8+ years of experience in software engineering, AI / ML, or applied machine learning

Proven experience building and scaling production AI systems

Hands-on experience with LLMs, speech recognition, NLP, or conversational AI

Experience designing distributed systems and cloud-based architectures

Prior experience working in fast-paced or startup environments is preferred

Skills

Strong proficiency in Python and / or backend languages (Java, Go, etc.)

Deep understanding of LLMs, prompt design, evaluation, and AI pipelines

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and real-time systems

Strong system design, debugging, and performance optimization skills

Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
