Inventory Management Specialist

This position serves as a Property Manager in the Material Management Division of the Logistics Service in the Hampton VA Medical Center responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all non-expendable (NX) equipment in the assigned area(s).

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following :

• Lifecycle Management : Responsible for the lifecycle management of non-expendable assets; conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning; analyzes data; supports customers and acquisition personnel in developing requirements, utilizing mandatory sources and standardization sources; and corresponds with procurement officials and other stakeholders to resolve issues
• Inventory Management and Control : Responsible for the management and control of NX equipment assets; serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Promotion Potential : The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment : Involves a mix of working in an office environment to working in a warehouse to assist in processing new equipment receipts and entering into the EIL. A great amount of time walking and climbing stairs is required to conduct on-site inventories of EIL equipment. Lifting of up to 40 pounds is required when receiving new equipment at the facility and preparing for the sale of excess property. Work conditions are often indoors, but could occasionally be dirty, hot, humid or unusually cold when involved in property inventories, disposal of equipment, transferring of equipment between serviced locations and recycling centers. Work is performed generally in an office setting with access to a personal computer and computerized and manual equipment records. Frequent trips to areas throughout the VA HCS and catchment areas, including Veterans' rooms to conduct equipment inventories and assist with problems are required. Work is also routinely performed in warehouse areas where pertinent safety and security procedures must be followed. May be directed to travel to all VA HCS and catchment area locations to perform equipment management duties, transferring of equipment and disposal / recycling of equipment.
