Head Of Engineering

We are hiring a hands-on Head of Engineering to own architecture, execution, and technical quality across Wizlo.

This role is for a builder who leads by shipping. You will write production code, make architectural decisions, and raise the bar for how engineering operates. As we scale, this role can grow into VP of Engineering or CTO.

$100,000 - $180,000 yearly

What you will do

• Ship production code across backend and frontend
• Own system architecture and technical direction end-to-end
• Lead engineering execution across product, platform, and integrations
• Make fast, pragmatic decisions — then harden and improve the system
• Establish strong engineering fundamentals:
• Code review standards
• CI/CD discipline
• On-call and incident response
• Logging, monitoring, and observability
• Build and lead a small, high-caliber engineering team
• Partner directly with product and executive leadership
• Build in a HIPAA-aware environment where security and reliability matter

Core Technology Stack

• Cloud: Microsoft Azure (primary production environment)
• Backend: Node.js (TypeScript), RESTful APIs, async/background processing, integration-heavy architecture
• Frontend: Modern React-based stack, component-driven UI, performance-focused interfaces
• Data: PostgreSQL with secure, multi-tenant data modeling and PHI-aware access controls
• Payments & Integrations: Stripe, subscription billing, pharmacy / lab / provider APIs
• DevOps: GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, logging, monitoring, and on-call readiness

Must-have qualifications

• 7+ years shipping production SaaS software
• Proven experience leading engineers while remaining hands-on
• Strong backend fundamentals (APIs, data modeling, reliability)
• Strong frontend fundamentals (UX, performance, maintainability)
• Comfortable owning architectural decisions and tradeoffs
• Clear communicator with high ownership and low ego
• Able to operate in ambiguity and move fast without breaking things

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS or white-label products
• Payments, billing, reconciliation
• Healthcare workflows and compliance-aware engineering
