Job Summary :

The Database Administrator is responsible for providing database services as well as development support to our organization. The primary responsibilities of this role would include the design, installation, monitoring, and performance tuning of production, test / development, and QA database environments while ensuring high levels of data availability. The Database Administrator will be implementing and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of our PostgreSQL databases and their accompanying software.

Essential Functions :

• Administer and manage databases instances in AWS and Azure.
• Provision and manage AWS hosted PostgreSQL, MS SQL, and Oracle and Azure SQL.
• Maintain high availability and with high availability and clustering as required by the application.
• Perform AWS and Azure database instances life cycle management.
• Maintain database availability and performance through effective monitoring and capacity planning.
• Optimize your database's performance by properly setting instance parameters, managing defragmentation and indexes, and fine-tuning the query execution plan.
• Handles database backups, snapshot management, restoration, and replication planning.
• Backup and restore databases from the S3 bucket.
• Collaborate with SQL developers on SQL query tuning, index recommendation, and schema design.
• Implement and enforce security for MS SQL Databases.
• Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
• Participate in 24 X 7 on-call rotations and contribute to monthly maintenance work.
• Provide input on disaster recovery and high-availability strategies, including multi-region failover planning.
