Primary Purpose
You will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures tailored to patient needs, following Parkland protocols and regulatory standards.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited college program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Science, or related allied health field.
Experience
No prior experience required.Certification / Registration / Licensure
Active Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from the Texas Medical Board.American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT must be obtained within 6 months of hire.Current CPR certification from a recognized provider (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network) or completion during initial orientation at Parkland.Skills or Special Abilities
In-depth knowledge of nuclear medicine technology and related fields including chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biomedical sciences.Basic knowledge of EKG for cardiac studies.Ability to administer intramuscular and intravenous injections and start IV lines.Proficient in operating Gamma cameras, SPECT / CT, PET / CT scanners, nuclear medicine computers, and cardiac stress equipment.Understanding of nuclear medicine therapeutic treatments.Responsibilities
Perform quality control on nuclear medicine equipment, ensuring adherence to quality management programs.Collaborate with physicians to determine and execute appropriate procedures efficiently.Document laboratory operations including radioactive material management, quality control data, patient procedures, and medical records.Suggest improvements for work processes and customer satisfaction, and implement as directed.Provide clinical instruction to radiology students and residents.Stay updated on nuclear medicine advancements through continuous education and professional development.Foster excellent relationships with coworkers, physicians, nurses, and patients to ensure smooth operations.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and guidelines affecting nuclear medicine practice.Parkland Health and Hospital System is committed to diversity and prohibits discrimination on several bases including age, race, gender, and disability.
